
No stranger to television, Sean Kanan recently guest starred on the
hit ABC comedy FREDDIE but he is best known world wide as the man
audiences loved to hate on CBS’s international hit, THE BOLD &
THE BEAUTIFUL. For more than five years, he played the role of
Deacon Sharpe, a bad boy with layers of touching complexity.
Kanan’s international appeal made him the likely choice to host a
recent MISS WORLD PAGEANT in London. Kanan is also known by fans of
television for his previous role as “A.J.” the roguish, black sheep
son to the powerful Quartermaine Family on ABC’s GENERAL
HOSPITAL.
In addition to his television work, Kanan has the lead role in the
upcoming romantic feature, SONS OF ITALY, which was recently filmed
in Italy and on the Isle of Capri. He also has a starring role in
the upcoming horror film, HACK in which Sean is one of the
producers. Kanan also has a starring role in the recently released
DVD, CARPOOL GUY. His film CHASING HOLDEN (Lionsgate Distribution)
of which he wrote, co-executive produced and stars in opposite DJ
Qualls and Rachel Blanchard for Showtime is currently out on DVD.
Kanan has also produced (Kanan/Hammerschlag Productions) and stars
in the drama MARCH (Devin/Iron Entertainment Distribution) which
premiered at The Cannes Film Festival.
Kanan’s exceptional
acting and Black Belt karate skills made him the obvious choice to
be selected out of 2,000 actors by Academy Award winning director
John Avildsen (Rocky) to play the memorable role of Ralph Macchio’s
nemesis in the feature film KARATE KID III . Soon after, Kanan
signed on to Francis Ford Coppola’s television series THE
OUTSIDERS. Later he went on to work with Oliver Stone in the Bruce
Wagner miniseries WILD PALMS.
Additional film credits for Kanan include HBO’s THE CHAOS FACTOR
with Fred Ward and Antonio Sabato Jr., CRASH POINT ZERO with Treat
Williams and the independent comedy CHUMP CHANGE. Kanan’s numerous
television credits include memorable guest spots on MTV’s DEAD AT
21, WALKER TEXAS RANGER, THE NANNY, SUPERMAN, WHO’S THE BOSS and
STEP BY STEP.
Kanan was born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in New Castle,
Pennsylvania. He attended Boston University and is a graduate from
UCLA with a degree in Political Science. He has studied acting
under the finest instructors such as Cameron Thor, Howard Fine, and
the late Roy London.
Kanan continues to enjoy martial arts and performing stand-up at
local comedy clubs amid a busy acting, producing and writing
career. Kanan resides in Los Angeles.
